Want to remove my tune but...

Post by Justardnck »

I hate my 87 octane tune, it makes my truck surge at idle and the idle is so low the truck is constantly stalling, this is something that has NEVER happened before the tune. I need to keep my speedo cal so is there a way I can calibrate my speedo without using any tuning other than the speedo tune?

You can restore your factory tune and then modify the factory tune. I'd look into some other things first though. Is you air intake ok? Everything connected, no holes, leaks? Any vacuum leaks? Exhaust system ok? Any service engine lights? Use the Predator to check for codes.

The engine had absolutely no issues before the tune and immediately after the tune started having issues. I tried running the truck for a week to see if the issues would work out but that didn't happen. Personally I don't care about losing the tune but the reason I bought the Predator was to recal my speedo. I put the 87 octane tune in because I thought it might help but it hasn't changed a thing except that the truck runs worse at idle.

Sorry, I didn't answer your question. There are no intake or exhaust leaks, the K&N filter has been cleaned recently and no check engine lights are on.

That is odd, but yes, you can use the modify stock tune to change tire size and nothing else..

I will try that, I didn't know I could do that. I thought I had to install one of the standard tunes to change the speedo.

I bet that you over oiled your K&N. Happens all the time. If so, your MAF is covered in oil and can not read the incoming air correctly.

Never thought of that, could be. You will have to remove the MAF from the intake tube and use a good cleaner on it. Pretty easy job to do. Couple of hose clamps and wire harness and your good to go.
