having issues with a 2013 mustang 3.7

Post by elmer fu66 »

just got my I3, bought it from holley directly , so far not been having the greatest experience, took multiple attempt's to get it updated (via cpu not wifi) , but eventually did , went out and put the 91 tune on the car , and its terrible the car rev hangs a 2000rpm so badly its dangerous, even tho I made sure the gearing and tires were correct its extremely off 30ish mph reads out below 20 (roughly 13mph) attempted to go in and modify perimeters and it errors and wont let me gives me the message "internal error! please unplug the tool or tap continue to reboot" this sucks that was the part of this tuner that I was most excited about , so I returned it to stock ... that was last night ... today i decided to give it another shot , hooked the I3 up to my laptop... did a update (there was one) took three trys to get it but i got the screen that it was all up to date , went out to the car and tried the 87 tune this time ... once it was complete i had the same issues , speedo was off and car rev hangs like crazy , i shot some videos and tried to make a log but it wouldn't do that either, so I put the car back to stock .... I read a bunch of post like this here and joined this page in hopes i could get it resolved, .... otherwise its going back in the box and I'm shipping it back to holley. added my info to the attachments as it seems that's always what you guys ask for first ...

are you making changes to the tire or gear settings when you install the tune?
Installing the tune with no changes should do nothing to the speedo calibration, and it shouldn't need to be adjusted if the gears and tires are stock sizes.

my tires are smaller then stock.... first time I only changed the tire size did it by tire size 255/40/19 .... second time I put in both the tire size (this time as 27 inchs) and verified the axle was correct at 2.72 as i wondered if it was off on the first attempt. same result . one of the reasons i bought a tuner was that my tires and soon my rear end gears will be different then stock.

OK, id start by returning to stock, then reload the tune with no changs and make sure everything is ok. We'll sort out the tire size from there.
