What do you have for modifications now? What are your goals?07BigHornRam wrote:ic ic good info megacab. ropnjessi a liftpump may be in my future cuz not only for if i add power but also seeing the diagrams about water in the fuel doesnt look like a good thing to have lol. help me out here so what upgrades to the engine support higher rail pressure. 1 has to be the lift pump no one wants to drain the cp3 or the rail.
So what does the puck do that predator doesnt?

well really nothing major yet. cuz im scared about the trans. i see and hear horrible storys once you add power and not touch the trans. i have a 07 qc 4x4 with 27k 5.9l 48re. In it is afe stage2 intake, no cat, 4" magnaflow muffler, and the predator. this truck is also my daily driver but i dont sled pull, haul, or 4x4 boosted drags. i'd like to hit 500hp. for the future a double disc clutch, billet input shaft , trans go shift kit and trans cooler with fan. fuel wise a life pump, rail and fuel psi gauges. engine wise i maybe 50hp injectors and the puck. but i dont know anything about rail pressure increse. as in what parts need upgrading.
Well I can say from my own experience to go beyond 70hp or on the stock tranny you will have problems. 500hp should be fairly easy with your 07 with tuning maybe a bigger turbo.

I got a triple disk TQ, bigger valve body and billet input, flex plate, that seems to hold my hp for now, but you could call Dave Goerend and tell him your goals and he can advise you better then me...

Theres not alot you can do. Running higher rail pressure is running on borrowed time no matter what you do because a common failure is splitting the injectors. You can get aftermarket injectors but as far as I know, they are all made by bosch, your only buying a reman injector with an aftermarket nozzle put on it... So you still have the same opportunity for failure. But your right, you don't want to drain the rail so a lift pump is a necessity

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: So what does the puck do that predator d
thanks megacab. so let me know if i got this right. the bigger the injector nozzle the less pressure build-up in the rail since more fuel can enter the injector and not build-up in the rail?
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: So what does the puck do that predator d
Its still going to be high pressure. The size of the holes in the nozzles is not that much bigger. If you get injectors large enough to do that, your looking at serious money to keep the truck running. At that point you will have to have a bigger turbo, tranny, lots of expensive stuff to support it. But I've never put injectors larger than 90's, you may want to go on cumminsforum.com and ask somebody in the performance section. I'm sure there are plenty of guys that have done this
