i seem to be getting some random misfires on my data logging it kinda jumps around from cylinder to cylinder. two nights ago it was worse at idle then with throttle went away. today it was worse around 1500-2000 rpms.
i am getting counts anywhere from 2-10 each on the different cylinders each time i get a misfire is this bad or "acceptable"?

Re: help with misfire
sorry its a 2010 silverado 5.3l 6speed
yeah all my logs are with stock tune. its very erratic tho its not a constant thing. two nights ago it was only at idle now its mainly with deceleration.
honestly i feel like its playing with me. i can tell you this tho every single time i decelerate like from highway speeds getting off an off ramp 2,4,8 cylinders misfire with 2-4 counts each.
im still under warranty just trying to figure out if this is significant. the only reason i started logging misfires was this damn thing idles so rough i knew somthing had to be going on and the dealer basically told me "well if you dont have a CEL there shouldnt be a problem"

Re: help with misfire

Re: help with misfire
mike i guess my biggest question was is there ever a time when the numbers on the misfire counts are insignifcant. or should they always be 0 no matter what situation?
Re: help with misfire
ive ran logs at with both stock and 87 octane tunes, with DoD both on and off and i am still getting these low count misfires. mostly at idle and with deceleration. i get 2-4 counts of misfire on cylinders 2/4/8 every time my motor decelerates.
is this normal/common?

Re: help with misfire
I'm watching this as I just got my intune out that I used to tune my Charger to try & diagnose the rough idle on my 2008 K1500. It will idle smooth then the tach will drop & it will get rough then it clears back up (all @ idle). Please post up anything you find or any suggestions. The truck has less than 30,000 miles and just went out of warranty. I did take it to the dealer and complain about the rough idle right before the warranty expired. I got the same reply "no CEL or misfires" so it's OK. I want to check on the misfires myself. My intune was way out of date because when I tried to use it the OBD functions were not supported. It's taking for ever to update....

im trying my damnedest to find all info i can. post up you misfire counts when you get it logged please
Re: help with misfire
it seems like the last few days i get a few misfires while driving but alot more misfires in park at idle and if i raise the rpms the misfires get much more prevalent. would this be "normal"?
Re: help with misfire
I only got 2 on cylinder 6 from the 15 minute log I ran yesterday. I will run a few more when time permits to see if it is consistently that cylinder.gsvar2004 wrote:im trying my damnedest to find all info i can. post up you misfire counts when you get it logged please

Re: help with misfire
i ran a 10 minute log yesterday and had 2-4 counts on every cylinder. i know this is not "that bad" but i also know that months of 2-4 count misfires could end up being bad.
