Stuck in recovery mode, turns off mid TCM write.

Post by Redsand187 »

I have a i1000 tuner with a custom tune. I removed the tune to help with some troubleshooting. Then when I went to reload the tune, the tuner turned off mid write. The truck wouldn't start, reboot the tuner, it's in "recovery mode," follow the prompts it goes through, makes it through the writing process for the PCM, but for the TCM it fails.

Now no matter what I do, the tuner boots into recovery mode, click the prompts, it begins to go the TCM process. I get to the point were you cycle the key, and as soon as you press the check mark to continue, the tuner shuts off. It does this repeatedly, I've probably tried no less then 50 times with the same results.

Any idea what happened? I can't load my custom tune, the TCM tune, only god knows whats in there. The truck runs a little goofy and shifts all weak and soft.

You can see what it's doing here:

I don't know if it's a hardware issue or if there is something I can do to make it work.

please post the info.xml file from the intune drive, the backup for the TCM from the tunes folder, and any files in the runtime folder on the intune drive, and we'll get you going.

Thanks

we need to update the tool to get a runtime, save this to the intune drive and let it import the file then go to the truck and trey the restore again, when it fails, it will make a runtime file.

Thanks

i have a simular issue only it has locked or fried my first pcm. now on a 2nd pcm and it got stuck in recovery mode while trying to update the calibration for the pcm. i do know under the delete vin option there are 2 vins one is mine and one is another vin simular only last 6 digits are different. the current pcm still works are the car starts. really just wanting to install the 93 tune and get it fine tuned.
