Reduced torque management, when?

Post by ALK »

I have a 07 A6 C6 with the 93 octane performance tune. I understand that the performance tune in the 7194 has the torque management reduced. Must the TC be turned off to feel the benefit of this reduction?

probably... cuz once you get on it to feel the new giddy-up, the TC is gonna kick in so your wheels don't spin...

when I start up my car in the mornings, the first thing I do is hit the TC button to turn that off... it's become second-nature for me now at this point...

the ONLY time I leave it on and actually use the TC is if there's snow covered roads...

other than that, I turn that crap right off first thing before even putting it in gear...

definite difference...

however, even if you don't turn it off, you should still feel a difference between stock and the diablo tune...

right 1st6... BUT... by reducing the TM, it will cause your wheels to spin easier, thus making the TC kick in...

I notice a difference in my Monte between the TC on and off...

not just by wheel spin either... but the throttle response seems to be affected as well... it doesn't just "let 'er rip" if the TC is on... at least in my car...

TM isnt reduced in the tune for the 6.2L vette setup in the denalis. I can punch it at 60mph and if it shifts down the TM light starts flashing as it reduces power.

Waiting waiting waiting...

Got to ride in a srt8 jeep with TM removed completely. Got so much push u could almost drift in a awd setup.

think you guys are confusing the two again LOL

that flashing light is for TC - Traction Control... not TM - Torque Management...

I do the same thing in my 2007 C6 MN6...get in...belt on...turn car on...put it in competitive driving mode. That way Traction Control is Off....but Active Handling is on.

I have to not only turn off Traction Control but also hold the button down for ten seconds to further remove stabilitrack...

Of course I do not play around at all ;) I just like the way it drives without those two being on ;)

That sounds convincing right?

Mike, how come in my denali with the 6.2L/6speed i can spin the tires every time taking off with the stock tune but not with the diablo tune?

Its not much spin but its noticeable diffrence.

I dont believe ANY TM is taken out

For me it's the exact opposite, although I'd love to see what she'll do with all of the TM taken out. From what I understand, an internet friend on one of the sites has HPTuners and he removed all of the TM from his truck and now he's realizing all of the potential that the engine had (with the tune, of course) because the tranny is no longer a hindrance. I guess we won't find out what that's like until 8r11 is out and we get the ability to modify/remove TM ourselves.

Actually, we're thinking it is a torque limiter kicking in due to the extra torque being produced right off idle.
We are looking into a work around for this limiter.

Thanks

If you guys at DS need a guinea pig, I'm in Miami and I'd be more than willing to drive up to Boca to get this abuse mode taken out of the tranny...
