timing

on my 03 silverado with the 5.3 how much can i advance the timing safely, and when will i know if its right

the timing adjustment is only for WOT...

you'll need to log for KR... if there is any, then you'll need to back-off the timing...

so i need to adjust it and then log. do u know what the timing should be for max performance

4% is roughly equal to 1* of timing...

which tune are you using, and what octane gas??

and to be honest with ya, I don't ever increase the timing on their diablo tunes... it's already pretty maxed out as is in the canned tunes... when I do custom tunes for people, I actually end up pulling out some timing to cure minor KR issues they have, and they end up getting more power due to no KR and no timing being pulled by the ecm...

im using the diablo tune with 93 octane gas, i went to the track and lowered my time by a half a sec off the diablo tune by increasing my timing 6*, i think its degrees, but i ran out of time and didnt get to see how far i could push it

it runs 28* at wot with no knock, is that bad

these trucks run like 40* not 28

yes, correct... that's at normal part-throttle driving...

it's not that high at WOT though, heh...

WOT vs part throttle timing are totally different worlds.

how much timing should they have at wot. a 350 small block is 32-36
